Parish Council
Junta de Freguesia de Santa Clara-a-Nova
The parish of Santa Clara-a-Nova was merged with Gomes Aires in 2013 as part of a national administrative reorganisation. Law 25-A/2025 of 13 March restored it as a parish of its own, effective from the swearing-in of the officials elected in the October 2025 local elections. The patron saint is Saint Clare of Assisi.
An area of 108.33 km² in the southern part of the Almodôvar municipality, characterised by vegetated hills, cork and holm oak woodland (montado), a traditional rural landscape and low population density.
